Design Matters

MessyI've been designing all day! Between the new buzzard blog header and all the youth stuff that is going out in next weeks mailing, I'm on a role! I'm most proud of the new design for our brochure and I didn't even do it! We hired another admin for childrens and student ministry this last year and her design skills kick booty! So Lisa, thanks for such a great job on the cover design! It's AWESOME! I can't wait to put this graphic up on the big screens and the bulletin board! Great job! This is my favorite brochure yet!

Are Your Ready For Some Football?

340989I hardly got to watch any football last season! Not good! This weekend college football starts back up! I know my Spartans will never really go anywhere, but I'm a loyal Spartan especially when they play Stanford! You will find me near my TV this weekend watching a game or too! Woo Hoo!!

I Wanna Do That!

Dsc02734So while I was at Bowditch yesterday morning. I saw these guys ridding these, for a lack of a better term, mini tanks. They were climbing over the rocks on the levee. I thought how cool and how fun are those toys. So I crossed the street and walked on the levee to see what they were doing. It was low tide and these guys were riding around in the mud, having a good time. Come to find out, they were mesquitoe abbatement! Don't really want their job, but would love to go mudding in the mini tanks!

Back to School

Dsc02732_5This morning I did my annual walk around Bowditch and pray. I went a little later than I normally do and saw some of our students which was totally fun. It was fun watching students reconnect with their friends they hadn't seen all summer. The best was they were all hanging out at their classroom doors and when the final bell rang, you heard a collective groan. Summer is officially over. My prayer time was great, but at the same time my heart broke for so many of these middle schoolers who don't know Jesus. I hope and pray that this year our student ministry can have a larger impact on our community.

One of Those Whacked Out People

Img_8809Img_8813
Ok, so I was one of those whacked out people who got up this morning to check out the lunar eclipse at 3:30 in the morning. I thought it would be cool to take some pictures of it. So before I went to bed last night I thought I'd see if my little 30D could take a decent picture of the moon. Well, my practice shot turned out great, the actual eclipse shot, not so great. It was too dark to pick up all the characteristics, but it's kind of cool to be able to say I got up to see the lunar eclipse! So today you get the good shot of the moon and the not so good shot of the lunar eclipse. I guess I could have stole a lunar eclipse picture from a news source, but then I wouldn't have anything to write about this morning. And yes, Ben V, this time I'm actually up writing and publishing this at the ungodly hour of 4 am!

An Amazing Group of People

Img_8663_2I feel very fortunate to work with an amazing group of people. It takes a lot of folks to put on an outdoor service. The CPC staff and volunteers did an amazing job yesterday. Everything from the sound, greeters, ushers, mucisians, tech crew, medical crew, teachers, food preps, cooks, hosts, photographers, tear down and set up crew and everyone else who worked behind the scenes! Thanks for all your hard work. It did not go unnoticed! Thanks for serving Jesus, our community of believers and the wider community.

What a Day

Img_8683What an awesome day! The worship team was hot, Foster City was hot, Rob preached it through his faithstory and Mitchell preached the simple life in Christ! The best part of the day were all the baptisms! I'm always so excited for people when they get baptized. It's so much fun to be a part of it and see their faces as they come out of the water. One of our 6th graders named Ian got baptized today. He is a quiet guy and to share his faith story in front of everyone was a huge thing. He was very brave and made it through. His picture was my favorite. Dave, you captured his face and the moment!

Dunk Em

Inthewaterwithhandsraised1768663I'm so excited for Sunday. Not only do we have an outdoor service, but I also get to baptize a bunch of our students too! It's been really fun meeting with each of them all week and seeing where they are at spiritually. I'm honored and humbled at what God is doing in the lives of our students!

Blogging an Addiction?

I'm about 7 months into having a blog. I really have fun blogging. I also read about 20 blogs each day through an RSS feed so I can read them in about 10 minutes. I was reading Brian Berry's Blog, The Overflow the other night and he had a post about blogging addictions along with a little test. I guess I'm a little more addicted to blogging than I thought! 68%How Addicted to Blogging Are You?
