Getting Ready for Lincoln Brewster

IMG_2169The church hallways were a buzz yesterday as CPC Live was getting ready for the big Lincoln Brewster Concert we are hosting. They've a got a lot more work ahead of them today. It sure has been fun to watch the transformation of the auditorium! If any of you readers of this blog are going, make sure to give me an update. I've got a graduation to go to tonight! It's a sell out crowd so have fun tonight!

A Fantastic Staff

IMG_2155 We have an awesome group of leaders who led our Life Groups this year!  Pictured are a few of them, some of them had to miss the beautiful night at the beach.  But they all love Jesus, Jr. Highers and invest a lot of time in our students.  This year I would like to thank Danyel, Dawn, Byron, Ken, Mike, Darcie, Karim, Ben, Wes, Susan and Liz.  You all have been an important part of our students lives, more than you probably know! Thanks for all your time!  Take a nice break this summer!  School will be here before you know it! I love you all!

Ben V! You are my 500th commenter

IMG_0284 Hey Ben, guess what?  You are my 500th commenter!  Granted you have probably left more comments on my blog than anyone and I appreciate your loyalty to reading this blog!!  The 500th comment was on the So Proud post! So I have a little prize just for YOU! Stop by the church this week on your way home and I'll have it for you!!

So Proud

In September I issued a challenge to the students in Life Groups to memorize 11 passages in James that came out of our life group booklet as well as memorized 10 consecutive verses in James.  Last night was the night to recite them to me!  Congrats to Carly and Luke for taking the challenge to memorize both assignments!  Congratulations to Frannie and Kristina for memorizing all the passages in our Life Group booklet!!

A Gorgeous Nite At The Beach

IMG_1983 Last night we took our Jr. High students to the beach for our last Life Group night of the school year.  Half Moon Bay in May is usually freezing, but last night it was beautiful!  No wind, warm and NO FOG!  I had fun watching all our kids jump in the freezing cold water and hang out in the sand playing football!  Thanks to all our leaders and drivers who got us there.  I can't believe another Life Group year has passed!

Remembering

IMG_1954 Last Christmas my Aunt Marilyn had sent me a box of old family pictures.  In that box were a few of my Grandpa Hughes.  He served as a Seabee's in World War II.  So on this Memorial Day I thought I'd write just a few words about him.  The picture posted is when he was overseas somewhere in the Pacific Islands.  He was a gentle, strong man who loved his country and his family!  Like many men from his generation, he didn't talk much about the war.  I couldn't even get him to tell me a story or two for a class project.  It wasn't until he passed away, that I learned he served with distinction and had received many medals for his bravery.  So thank you to all the men and women who have fought for our great nation so we can enjoy the freedoms we have today.

My All Time Favorite Movie Series! What a Fizzle!

Indiana-jones I went to see Indiana Jones yesterday afternoon and what a disappointment.  Don't get me wrong, the stunts and special effects were awesome.  The story line starts out like a great Indy story line and then I don't know what happens.  I felt like this movie was a combination of all Steven Spielburg movies coming together. Indiana Jones meets Star Wars, Close Encounters and other Indy story lines. It was just plain weird.  Don't pay full price for it.  Two thumbs down for me.

Pray For this Family

I woke up to this news this morning.  Take a moment today to pray for them.

Kid In A Candy Story at Powell's

IMG_0331IMG_0330On Monday I went to downtown Burlingame to pick up an ipod for a student who memorized the whole book of James!  While in Burlingame I wanted to check out this new candy store that all The Edge and Jr. High kids have been talking about! I LOVE candy!  So I finally found  Powells Candy Store and I wasn't disappointed! They had everything! I was just like a kid in a candy store! They had candy I hadn't seen since I was in Jr. High. My favorite candy as a Jr. High were Zots! I had to laugh at all the different mint tins they had!  The Last Supper after dinner mints were my favorite!  So if you are ever in Burlingame go check out Powell's!
