Jr. High Ministry
I'm in the process of hiring several interns for the summer and for the next couple of years. I've been reading lots of applications and references. All of these interns have something in common. The majority of them came to know the Lord or renewed their relationship with Him while in Jr. High. I've always been a believer that we need to catch kids in Jr. High and the "experts" agree that Jr. High students are more open not only to spiritual things, but also having adults a part of their life. Jr. High students are asking those questions of identity, worth, and belonging that used to be exclusive to high school students. I recently read on Marko's blog that Jr. High Ministry is more preventive where High School Ministry is more corrective. In many ways I agree with that statement. As I sit here praying over these applications, I'm so thankful for the adults and jr. high pastors who influenced these possible interns. I'm so thankful to be serving in a church that not only believes in Jr. High Ministry whole-heartedly, but backs it up with their prayers, their time, their money, and their care.
We <3 Jr. Highers! Good luck with your Intern selections!
