Worship Wars and Styles

As someone who has grown up in the church I've seen all kinds of worship styles.  I watched the church I grew up in move from and organ and piano to a full worship band, with God forbid; drums and electric guitars! Needless to say I remember hearing the scuttle-butt about our worship pastor and the music selections.  As an adult, I am on the worship team who plans the worship services and some things will never change. People always have something to complain about when it comes to music in the church.  Dan Kimball has a great blog post about the Organ!  Give it a read, it puts things into perspective!

VBS @ CPC

Just got back from the church and got to see VBS.  VBS is amazing!  I was going to the church to pick up a 21st century Wii, but as I stepped on campus, I was catapulted into the 1st century!  There are just over 100 volunteers who make this week of VBS happen for just over 200 kiddo's!  I LOVE seeing so many of our students serving at VBS!  Way to go CPC Students! Score!!

On Thursday I finally scored a Wii for the Jr. High Ministry.  It took me 6 months to find one for our High School Ministry and 8 months to find one for Jr. High! I walked into Costco and BAM! There it was a Wii! We've also been on the hunt for Mario Kart for several months.  No where to be found!  BAM! Went to Best Buy and they had them!  I can't wait to try Mario Kart out!

Birthday Bash!

So on Tuesday I turn the Big 4-0!  A friend of mine threw me a big bash today!  Of course, it turned out to be the hottest day of the summer so far!  We were sweatin' in 100 degree temps!  That is hot for the Peninsula.  But it was so much fun!  It was fun to see all the folks stop buy throughout the afternoon and eat some yummy food, especially the BBQ!  I felt very spoiled!  Thanks to all of you who helped put the party on. I had a great time spending time with you!  After the party, I jumped in the pool and then sat pool side reading all my birthday cards!

Check Out Jerome Madigan

Jerome is our worship pastor at our church!  He has been here about a year and he is a great guy.  He just launched a CD called "Instructions for Deconstruction" which you can find on iTunes, but he also just launched his new website which includes a blog!  Go give him some props!

Sacrificing the Burnt Offerings

We recently got a new BBQ at the church and Tom wanted to test it out on Friday so he offered up the burnt offerings (Old Testament Term) to all of us on staff!  Thanks Tom and Sean!  It was yummy!

Getting Ready for Lincoln Brewster

The church hallways were a buzz yesterday as CPC Live was getting ready for the big Lincoln Brewster Concert we are hosting. They've a got a lot more work ahead of them today. It sure has been fun to watch the transformation of the auditorium! If any of you readers of this blog are going, make sure to give me an update. I've got a graduation to go to tonight! It's a sell out crowd so have fun tonight!

Crazy Friends

So a bunch of my friends are training for the Wildflower Tri that happens in a few weekends. This was the run through before the big race. I drove over to Santa Cruz to meet up with friends and Darcie, Jenn and Nick all ran unto the 51 degree ocean to do their 500 yard swim! At least Darc and Jenn had wetsuits on, Nick I can't believe you did that swim with NO wetsuit! I was watching from the beach since there is NO way you are going to get me into that cold of water!

I'm working hard on our summer calendar. We are doing things a little different this summer. But I'm not going to say what yet!! Although the calendar icon will give you a hint because we are going somewhere on that exact date! But the rest will be a surprise!

A Sweet Moment

I walked into our main office just a minute ago and found our 20"s Pastor, Justin Buzzard on the floor coloring with one of our admins grandkids. It was too cute listening to their conversation. The best was when Justin asked how old the kids thought he was, they said 40! His quick response, "I've got the wisdom of a 40 year-old but I'm in my 20's." Too cute!
