Birthday Bash!

DSC03149 So on Tuesday I turn the Big 4-0!  A friend of mine threw me a big bash today!  Of course, it turned out to be the hottest day of the summer so far!  We were sweatin' in 100 degree temps!  That is hot for the Peninsula.  But it was so much fun!  It was fun to see all the folks stop buy throughout the afternoon and eat some yummy food, especially the BBQ!  I felt very spoiled!  Thanks to all of you who helped put the party on. I had a great time spending time with you!  After the party, I jumped in the pool and then sat pool side reading all my birthday cards!

A Beautiful Day on the Lake

DSC03045 It was an incredible day on the lake yesterday!  Cold but beautiful!  I am always amazed at God's workmanship when I visit Lake Tahoe.  Today I pack up and go home only to turn around and fly out to Washington!

Rummy Anyone

IMG_0374I grew up in a very legalistic christian school.  So of course playing cards was a "sin."  I don't know many card games, except one: Gin Rummy!  My friend Darc is up in Tahoe with me and we have an annual tradition of playing Gin Rummy throughout vacation.  It's the only card game I win at.  So today was the first 3 rounds of Gin Rummy and as you can see, I'm 5 points behind.  Hahaha, by tomorrow I will surpass Darc and win again! :

Finishing

Img_1445_2As a spectator of a triathlon, it amazes me that people do this sport for fun. Don't get me wrong, I love to swim and bike, I'm not very fond of running much anymore, but I watch these people work so hard and I would think there is nothing more rewarding than crossing the finish line. I watched people jump into others arms, I watched them cry, smile and let out a big "ya hoo." I was so proud of my friends who all finished and did well on their times. After talking to a few of the girls and listening or should I say eavesdropping on other conversation, I heard over and over, "I want to finish well." Of course I couldn't help but think of the spiritual implications that phrase has. I know I've wanted to finish well with either projects or jobs, but more importantly, I want to finish well with my creator, God. I want to finish well with Him. And I hope my response when I hit the finish line will be that of my friend in the picture, arms raised high, rejoicing in the fact that I have finished the race and I stand before God hands raised in the air praising Him.

Go Cynthia

Img_1405My friend Cynthia has participated in the Wildflower for several years, but took last year off to have a baby! She has three beautiful children. Cynthia was amazing! She swam 400 meters, rode 10 miles on a mt. bike, ran 2 miles crossed and crossed the finished line! Right after that, she nursed her baby walked several miles back to camp to serve the men beer and snacks! You go Cynthia!

They Are Off!

Img_1323The girls are off this morning to start their race! Go for it ladies!
