Frisbee Golf Riot

IMG_2927 This summer we have turned up the heat on our jr. high ministry.  In the past we have slowed things down but this summer I felt we needed to do some more activities than we would normally do in the summer.  One thing I wanted to accomplish was provide a weekly activity that didn't cost anything. Some creative planning has gone into this summer and we came up with some new activities that we haven't done before. Trying that many new events is always a risk because you aren't sure if students will go for it.  Frisbee Golf was one of those events!  When I was planning this event I wasn't even sure if we had any frisbee golf courses in the bay area.  Much to my surprise, we do!  Needless to say, we had an adventurous group of Jr. Highers go with us and we golfed it up through the forest and missed the creek all afternoon.  Fun day and I would do that event again!  Check our our day here!

Score!!

Mario_kart_wii_sale_numbers On Thursday I finally scored a Wii for the Jr. High Ministry.  It took me 6 months to find one for our High School Ministry and 8 months to find one for Jr. High! I walked into Costco and BAM! There it was a Wii! We've also been on the hunt for Mario Kart for several months.  No where to be found!  BAM! Went to Best Buy and they had them!  I can't wait to try Mario Kart out!

Our New Jr. High Mascot

IMG_2637 It's been a while since we've had a mascot for our Jr. High Ministry!  This is Tank and he is the dog of a couple or our kids and leaders!  Isn't he cool!

Impossible Missions and Squid Bowling

IMG_2470 IMG_2548 Last night we kicked off our first midweek of the summer with our Jr. Highers.  Our new summer interns did an awesome job of planning, leading and even cleaning up!  The two hits of the night: Mission Impossible and of course Squid Bowling!  I know what you are thinking!  Squid Bowling?  Yep, we bowled with a fresh squid that we picked up at our local market!  You can check out the pics over on our Jr. High Site!  Great job by all our leaders last night too!  I can't do ministry without you all!

Soccer Sunday

IMG_2366 Our Jr. High Ministry is on break for the next two weeks, so it was so fun to sleep in on a Sunday morning and not have to plan anything.  So this morning I did what many people on the Peninsula do: I went to Starbucks and then to Pacifica to watch a soccer game.  One of the girls in our Jr. High ministry plays on a CY team and it was the last game of their season.  So I'm glad I got to go.  It was a super exciting 1st half.  The 2nd half was tough one, but the girls played hard!  Fun morning!

A Fantastic Staff

IMG_2155 We have an awesome group of leaders who led our Life Groups this year!  Pictured are a few of them, some of them had to miss the beautiful night at the beach.  But they all love Jesus, Jr. Highers and invest a lot of time in our students.  This year I would like to thank Danyel, Dawn, Byron, Ken, Mike, Darcie, Karim, Ben, Wes, Susan and Liz.  You all have been an important part of our students lives, more than you probably know! Thanks for all your time!  Take a nice break this summer!  School will be here before you know it! I love you all!

So Proud

In September I issued a challenge to the students in Life Groups to memorize 11 passages in James that came out of our life group booklet as well as memorized 10 consecutive verses in James.  Last night was the night to recite them to me!  Congrats to Carly and Luke for taking the challenge to memorize both assignments!  Congratulations to Frannie and Kristina for memorizing all the passages in our Life Group booklet!!

A Gorgeous Nite At The Beach

IMG_1983 Last night we took our Jr. High students to the beach for our last Life Group night of the school year.  Half Moon Bay in May is usually freezing, but last night it was beautiful!  No wind, warm and NO FOG!  I had fun watching all our kids jump in the freezing cold water and hang out in the sand playing football!  Thanks to all our leaders and drivers who got us there.  I can't believe another Life Group year has passed!

Cinderella

IMG_0328IMG_0329Friday night I had the opportunity to go to Borel Middle School's play Cinderella!  We had a ton of kids in the tech crew, on stage and in the orchestra!  This was a sweet play and lots of fun to watch!  Great job to all of you in the play!

Quote of The Week

Subhead_quotesLast Sunday we made the transition from the Old Testament into the New Testament in Jr. High. So before I started my talk I read through the genealogy of Jesus in Matthew 1. Let's just say I read it quick until we got to some of the names of people we studied. I was reading verse 9 which says "Salmon (I pronounced it like the fish) was the father of Boaz, whose mother was......." and expecting the kids to shout out Rahab, one of our students shouted out "trout!" Let's say we all lost it after that!
