Quote of The Week

Subhead_quotesLast Sunday we made the transition from the Old Testament into the New Testament in Jr. High. So before I started my talk I read through the genealogy of Jesus in Matthew 1. Let's just say I read it quick until we got to some of the names of people we studied. I was reading verse 9 which says "Salmon (I pronounced it like the fish) was the father of Boaz, whose mother was......." and expecting the kids to shout out Rahab, one of our students shouted out "trout!" Let's say we all lost it after that!

Quote of The Week

Subhead_quotesLast night we were playing a new game for Riot nite. All our leaders went and hid throughout the building and students were given one clue about each leader. The clues weren't where to find the leaders but were some kind of fun fact about each leader. As soon as students found out which leader went with each clue they were given a new clue about a different leader and they would go find that leader. My clue was that I was on the speech and debate team in college. One of the students in a group knew that and said, "Oh, that's Sandy," one of the other students in that group did not know that about me and said, "You mean Sandy's smart?" Thanks Trevor!

Quote of The Week

Subhead_quotesOur poor staff has just been passing around their germs and have been sick for weeks. Well round two or maybe its three has hit the front office ladies. Our Jr. High director is in the middle of round one and wrote this email to our ladies at work yesterday. "I hope all of you ladies get well fast and stay healthy. We need to pray these "dirty Viruses out of our church" and leave us alone." I just love the "dirty viruses" line.

Quote of The Week

Subhead_quotesI haven't done a quote of the week for a while. My Jr. High Life Group was traveling to Krispy Kreme last night and of course everyone started talking about their favorite kind of music. Some of my girls love country! Of course I'm delighted by this discovery since I'm the biggest country music fan around! Just listen to my ringtone! Now I understand that country is not for everyone, but my mission in is life to convert people to Jesus and to Country Music! :) So I proceed to turn the radio to our local country station in which Jennifer, who is NOT a country music fan, replied, "I feel violated." Jennifer, one day, you will be singing with the rest of us the joy of country music! :)

Quote of The Week

I haven't done a quote of the week in a while! But here is a great one that one of our leaders sent me that took place in Jr. High on Sunday morning. This particular leader was teaching on the fall of man in Genesis 3 and she had a bunch of our high school kids do a drama to help illustrate her lesson and here is the conversation that followed.

A discussion followed a skit about creation and the fall of man on Sunday morning. When asked if anyone knew what "lust" was (that was one of the "sins" in the drama), a hand eagerly went up in the back of the room. "I saw 'lust' in Shrek 2." Another student enthusiastically added, "Yeah! I saw that in Shrek 2 too! Lust is a potion that when you drink it, you fall in love with the first person you kiss!!" Just goes to show you . . . all you ever needed to know in life you could have learn from Shrek 2!!

Another Quote of the Week

Subhead_quotesI was walking in the hall two days ago at church and ran into our children's pastor who was talking to a small child and our pastor said, "See ya later alligator." The child smiled and her mother said, "what do you say back?" The little girl thought for a moment and much to the mothers dismay said, "See ya soon, you big baboon!" I started cracking up because, one it was funny, but two, the mom was expecting here daughter to say, "See ya in while crocadile," and her daughter just called the children's pastor a big baboon.

Quote of the Week

Dsc02436On Sunday at The Edge, Darcie our Jr. High Director was handing out Jamba Cards to students who had perfect attendance at The Edge for the last quarter. Cody was called up and Darcie said "Come up here brother." Cody replied, "I'm not your brother." As she tried to explain about the spiritual attributes of being in the family of God, Cody insisted they were NOT related in any way!

Quote of the Week

Subhead_quotesOur Jr. High Director's house was recently TP'd. She was not very happy about this. The culprits have yet to come forward, so she was talking about it in her Life Group when one of the girls said...

"Darcie, you just have to loosen up, it's (being TP'd) part of your job."

Quote of the Week

Subhead_quotesDuring our Pastor's meeting on Tuesday our high school director shared that one of our high school students decided to start her journey with Christ. Our Women's Pastor mentioned that she had led a woman to the Lord and then our Children's Pastor mentioned that a bunch of kids had done the same. That is when our high school director said,

"Our church kicks butt!"
