And The Name is..........

Many of you have been asking if I have decided on the name for my car. I have finally come up with a name. I took all the names suggested into consideration, using them for a short time to see if something clicked. Many of you gave me some very creative names!  So here we go!  Drum roll please........The name for the Element is....... thebullfighterredroversparticusmoondoggiecarahottomaleredrhinoboss.  But for short I'll be calling it Big Red Clifford!

Good Bye Green Lightning...Hello.................

I couple of years ago I wrote a blog post about all the Honda Civics I had driven through the years.  Well on Sunday, I traded in my 99 civic. Close to 160,000 miles, I've been looking for another car for the last couple of years.  I finally found just the right car at the right price! I'm one of those weird people who names their cars.  My last civic was called green lightening!  So here is the deal, I'm looking for a new name for the Element!  So bring on the names!

Driving a Gas Guzzler

Thankfully I drive a little civic, but yesterday I was getting the vans ready for camp.  One van was just about empty and as I was driving by the gas station I saw this gas sign!  Yes, you read it right!  If you live outside of the Bay Area, you may have not seen gas prices this high, but it's true.  This station in Redwood City is at $4.99 for low grade!  Needless to say, I did NOT buy gas at this station to fill the church van!

The Pregnant Roller Skate

Somehow during announcements in Jr. High on Sunday, I got to talking about the car I learned to drive in. I described it as a pregnant roller skate. Yep, if your old enough, you might hear that description and think about one of the first Honda's to come to America. The Honda Civic or CVCC as it was called in 1977. And NO I did NOT learn to drive in 1977! It was much later! So here is a picture for all you Jr. Highers who read my blog!

Green Lighting is Home!

I picked up my car last night from the shop. Green Lighting is running great and all I have to say is that the cracked oil pan gasket better be gold plated for the amount they charge for that part!

Honda Civic

Since I started driving, I've always driven a Honda Civic. I learned to drive on a 77 civic! That was the pregnant roller skate model. It was M&M Orange. That was my dad's car and 300,000 miles later and 2 teenagers he finally got rid of it about 8 years ago. My next Civic was an 80 hatchback. That was my first very own car. I wish I had a picture of that car, it was all pimped out! After being hit at 40 MPH and I was at a dead stop, that honda went to honda heaven and thankfully I didn't, which led to the insurance company buying me a 90 civic hatchback. After 200,000 miles it was time to replace it. So I bought a brand new car. I never had a brand new car right off the lot and that was my 99 Civic that I drive today, otherwise known as Green Lighting. There always comes a time when a car owner needs to figure out whether or not it's cheaper to fix or to sell. After 140,000 miles I figured I had a couple years left on my current civic. Although I knew it needed new tires and a new clutch I decided to go for it. So the clutch is being replaced today, but with that phone call came the other issues, a new fuel pump, a cracked oil pan, cracked bushings on the rear axel, which means an alignment as well and some other cracked part that I can't remember! So $1800 later, I am second guessing my decision to buy a new car! The great thing is this civic has given me NO problems and I've kept up the maintence, so I guess it's ok! Green Lighting better run better then ever! Kudos to San Leandro Honda who have the best prices in the Bay. They always come in $300-$500 cheaper than anyone else!
