Super Hot Sauce Ski Wax

I'm getting ready to go skiing next week, so I spent the weekend gathering all the ski equipment in my crawl space. I come from a long line of skiers (I've got my grandfathers original wood ski's and lace up boots), so I'm excited to get the ski's out of the bag and tune them up! One of my favorite smells....hot ski wax! I can't wait to put a new layer of ski wax on my ski's. There is something about tuning up a pair of ski's for me. It's therapeutic I guess. While watching all the alpine skiers during the Olympics, I learned that many of them use a "secret" formula of Hertel Super Hot Sauce Ski Wax. I had no idea I used the same ski wax as our Olympians!! I wish I could ski like them! Maybe the wax will help! Curling Swag

I received a degree in physical education. One of my classes was sport history where we had to do a project on an Olympic sport. For whatever reason I chose the sport of "curling." The sport of Curling has a long history and first made it's debut as a medal sport in the very first Winter Olympic Games in Chamonix. Curling then had an on again/off again relationship with the Winter Olympics as a demonstration sport from 1932-1992. Curling was brought back into the Winter Olympics as a full medal sport in 1998. Curling is again creating a buzz in the 2010 Winter Olympics, not necessarily for the sport, but for the uniforms. The Norwegian Mens Curling team is wearing quiet the swag, their pants! These crazy pants are made right here in the Bay Area, in fact their warehouse is right here in Foster City! The company who makes these pants is none the less Loud Mouth Golf. That's right, they are golf pants! Way to go Loud Mouth!

Big Waves

On Saturday a friend and I traveled out to Half Moon Bay to try to catch the Mavericks Surf Competition. We got a late start, so I wasn't sure if we would actually get to see any surfing. As we traveled over the hill we kept hearing the reports of surf warnings and "rouge" waves that were taking people out on the sea walls. Traffic wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. By the time we found a parking spot we started the long walk. My friend and I had no idea where we were supposed to go. Neither of us had been to Mavericks. As we stopped to ask directions, the office told us it was about a 40 minute walk and the competition was to be over in an hour. My friend and I were bummed. We didn't want to walk all the way out there just to walk back! So we decided to to drive up Highway 1 and see if we could catch any "rouge" waves farther up the coast. We stopped near Montera and saw the most amazing waves I had ever seen. The pictures don't do it justice!

Spending Time With My Niece

Last weekend I had the opportunity to hang out with my niece for the weekend. We had all kinds of great fun, but playing with photo booth on the Mac was the best. Here is our little tribute to Mr. Michael Jackson.

In Jr. High we do this segment called the impossible shot. I usually set up some kind obstacle that students have to through and object through! Here is an epic impossible shot!

Age of a Jr. High Leader

 I'm very thankful for our Jr. High leaders, actually for all our leaders who serve in student ministries. They are impacting students for the kingdom! I love that in our Jr. High Ministry we've got a wide range of ages for our leaders. We've got leaders from 18-50+. Last Sunday one of our, mmm lets say, "older leaders" was asked by one of our jr. highers, "Howie, how OLD are you anyways?" Howie, sitting in his beanbag chair with a group of jr. high boys, smiled and laughed. Before he could answer, another Jr. High boy chimed in, "Howie is old enough to have babysat baby Jesus!"

Checking out a new camp

So while the guys on our youth team are in the Dominican republic, all of us girls went to check out a new camp in Mammoth! I've never been to Mammoth, it's absolutly beautiful! We are checking out Mammouth Base Camp! They run a winter camp as well as summer stuff with rock climbing, mt. biking and horseback riding! Today we went rock climbing and there was still a ton of snow on the ground! Lots of fun had by all! Really like the team that has started this camp! Great people.
